Grease trap installation in Kelowna, BC

Grease traps collect the fats, oils and greases (FOG) from normal commercial kitchen operations. (City of Kelowna Sanitary Sewer Drain Regulation Bylaw #6618-90 requires all food preparation facilities including restaurants, canning operations, and killing and processing facilities to install oil and grease interceptors, also known as grease traps.)

Fats, oils and grease are lighter than water and rise to the top. Grease traps use a series of baffles to intercept and filter FOG out of wastewater systems before they harden and threaten to clog drain lines. Without a properly functioning grease trap, drain lines can quickly become clogged. Regular maintenance of drain lines to and from grease traps will help to prolong the life of a grease trap and prevent costly (and smelly) backups.

Power augers go beyond the capabilities of an average sewer snake to grab debris and break up stubborn clogs that can then be successfully flushed through the drain lines. Augers push a long, thick, flexible coil that “snakes” into drains and pipes to chew through clogs quickly and efficiently. There are different attachments depending on the job that can either break up a blockage or grab debris and bring it back to the surface.

Whether by the power of a manual crank or a motor, the long coil extends deep inside drains and twists around to remove any grime and debris.

Line Jetting

Line jetting is an effective method of removing debris from pipe walls. A hose with powerful, specialized jets is inserted into the plumbing line and water is forced out, in a circular motion, at high pressure (usually 2,000-4,000 lbs. per square inch). The force of the water is able to dislodge those hard to clear clogs, debris and obstructions.
